What to pack in your backpack for the Theme Parks?!?
The magical question on everyone's mind.
As easy and convenient as Disney tries to make if for their guests, it still takes time and effort to get from your Disney Resort to one of their 4 Theme Parks. And no one wants to have to leave the Parks, just because they forgot something! A well stocked backpack will help make your day at the Theme Park run smoothly.
Every family has their own needs, and it would be impossible for me to offer a inclusive list that works for everyone. But this is my list of things you might not think of as well as things I find helpful.
ID
There is more then one occasion that you could be asked for ID at Disney, especially if you are purchasing alcoholic beverages. Annual Pass Holders or Disney Vacation Club discounts also require ID.
Magic Band, Magic Band+, Phone or Key to the World Card
Whichever way you decided to make your way around Walt Disney World, just make sure you have it with you before you leave the hotel room.
Medications
Being on vacation makes us all forget the day-to-day things. So make sure you don't forget necessary medications for everyone.
Insulated Refillable Water Bottles
Fill up with ice and some water before leaving your resort. Throughout the day every beverage stand will give you cups of ice water on request. There are also beverage refill stations located through out the world. I also ask for ice water when I am at a sit-down restaurant and pour that into my bottle.
Sunscreen
Florida sun is rough, especially if you are not use to it. Make sure you have all the sunscreen products your family needs.
Sunglasses
The glare of the Florida sun on all of those amazing attractions can be hard on the eyes, even the little ones.
Hat or Visor
Keeping that sun out of your face is very helpful. And don't worry, Mickey Mouse Ears fit right over hats too!
Band-Aids, Antibiotic Cream, Alcohol Pads
Band-Aids will not only help for the occasional boo-boo, but they are also good for blisters that might appear on your feet.
Motrin/Tylenol/Pain-Reliever
Whatever your family uses, it would be a good idea to pack some. Headaches, body aches, etc. are bound to happen.
Honest Talk Here - Chub Rub
Yes, you will be sweaty, your feet will be sore and that rash from too much "friction" may happen. I always say it is a good idea to pack it and not need it then need it and not pack it.
Diaper Cream
Your family's choice - but for those who do get that rash from skin rubbing together, diaper cream is known to help heal and soothe.
Ponchos
It's Florida and it rains, all of a sudden. They do sell ponchos in the parks so don't worry if you don't have them. But it is a good idea to grab a few ahead of time. It is more convenient and will save you a little money. They are also great to wear on the water rides if you don't want to get soaked.
Snacks
You are allowed to bring food and non-alcoholic drink into the parks. Bringing a few snacks to enjoy while in line is always a good idea.
Spare Battery Pack to Charge All of the Things with Cords
Your phone will be in use most of the day. Having a spare battery pack and cord to charge up when you need it will be a lifesaver.
Disney Merch
Ears, hats, matching t-shirts, Princess Dresses, Magic Wands, Bubble Wands; whatever makes it fun for your family. And yes, most people are wearing them.
Portable fans with a mist sprayer
These are fantastic to have on super hot days.
Cooling Towels
I have no idea how they work, and I really didn't even believe they would work, until I used one. These cooling towels just need to be rinsed out with water and are quite refreshing.
Neck Fans
These are great because they just rest on your neck and you don't have to carry them. I have a rechargeable kind. I bring the charging cord so if I need to, I can plug it into my portable charger.
Name Plate for your Stroller
If you are using a stroller you need to make it stand out. Purchase or make a customized name plate so you know which one is yours. Trust me, there are hundreds of strollers and grabbing the wrong one has happened many times. Other ways to decorate your stroller so you know it is yours, a balloon, lights or even party decorations.
Enoying your "Best Day Ever" will be easier if you pack appropriately for the parks. This is not an all-inclusive list, but a strong place to start. Think about your family and their individual needs. Anything to avoid having to run back to the resort!
